About: Who, What, How, Why, Where

Bethany is a wanderer, artist, mechanic, animal lover, student, wife, and business owner in Texas. This project began as a yearlong commitment to develop art skills, creative processes, discipline, and a working portfolio; my exploration of Art as a way of life is to be showcased in any artistic form on this site. This is my place to share the process and the thoughts with you and to include you in my development.

I learned a lot in my 365 Day project that I admittedly did not continue posting for a year. Among those things was that I need to be less restrictive on my art, it may help some people, it however kills my work. Second, I want to return to my writing and this is a perfect outlet for me to focus on writing and post my art and explorations of topics alongside. Third, Art is my life. It is the place I can express, feel, grow, relax, work, and share. Art is what I want to do and I am going to make it a focus not a pastime. With these and other things in mind, I open this page to a new concept of sorts: Steampunk is still an interest and I will continue to delve into that idea, however I want to have the freedom to explore and expand my understanding, experience, skills, interests, and reach people with what I am passionate about.

And now for the legal stuff.

All work on this site is property of the artist, namely me, and is not for open distribution without credit and notification. Please do not use my work for monetary gain without both crediting and allowing the artist commission. Thank you. See the official stuff is done for now. You can visit my Etsy site for more of it if it makes you happy 🙂

Gauntlet Sewing Kit - This is an example of me getting an idea compiled from various historical and Steampunk images and drawing from there. I am clear I drew this from scratch on my own idea but that my influences are from someone else

other proprietary element in a project and have not claimed it at time you look, please either be patient or email me, I will of course add your information. I try to never use even a possible item claimed by others. I try to use photos I have taken as inspiration and foundation, and I try to create my digital brushes. If you are unsure of anything, related or not, also email and I will tell you how I did something. My goal is to develop all of my own items to work with but that is a developing process as part of the project and of course found item type pieces will have varied things in them.

Now, we move on to more about the what, why, how, and when of this project.

What: As a personal artistic venture and development – any medium is fair game. I have done woodwork, painting, drawing, computer art, jewelry, vehicles, essays, and photography so far, and I am always considering new ideas. Everything I see or hear, or read inspires an idea; I don’t have the time to create all of them, but I can try to work on those I can’t escape.

Why: My variety of artistic experience and interest impacts every aspect of my life. I have lived a lot of places and traveled quite a bit, this influences my work, my art, my views, my focus, and my style. Over time, I have rarely offered pieces for sale, though I have had some very good offers; my art has been mostly done because it was something I felt or needed, it was for the sake of the art, for me, or for someone I cared about. My mother spent years working to get me to focus on my artistic skills and make a living with them. A major point was I rarely share my art with anyone and I often do not finish. I want input, comments, ideas, and simply an audience. I am for the first time opening my art, my work, and myself to the world and intend to share this journey with as many people as possible.
